This is about the MK Bhan -Young Researchers Fellowship Program (MKB - YRFP)

What is the aim of MKB - YRFP

To encourage the Young reserahcers to continue their research after Ph.D in the country.

Is there any limitation for this fellowship?

This fellowship will be awarded for researchers in DBT-autonomous institutes only.

Eligibility criteria for this fellowship

  1. Must be an Indian citizen

  2. Ph.D. holder in any branch of life science / biotechnology.

  3. Applicant should not be holding any permanent position in any college or university.

  4. Applicant should have excellent publication track record, have developed technology, patent, etc.

  5. Applicant must identify a host institute and mentor.

  6. The applicaon has to be forwarded by the mentor and the HoD of the host institute.

Is the fellwship co-terminus wth the project duration

Yes, it is co-terminus with the poject duration.

What is the upper Age limit of the candidate

35 years.

What is the nature of support?

  1. The scheme provides a monthly remuneration of 75,000/-

  2. There will be a contingency grant of 20 lakhs per year for hiring manpower, purchase of consumables and minor equipments, domestic travels, and other contingent expenditures.

  3. MK Bhan fellows can keep one manpower under him/her - JRF/SRF/Project associate/ project assistant.

  4. Capital equipment should be procured in the name of the institute but the value of the whole set should not exceed 10 lakhs during the whole tenure of the project.

Duration and number of fellowship

  1. Upto 50 fellowships each year.

  2. Duration of the fellowship is for a maximum period of three years; but it is conditionally extendable by two years.

Where will MKB - YRFP fellows work?

At any DBT-autonomous institutes.

Can an MKB - YRFP fellow change the host institute?

  1. Yes, the fellow can change the host institute once during the tenure of the fellowship.

  2. There should be prior no-objection certificate from the host institute.

Can a candidate submit his/ her nominations through multiple host institutes?

No

Can a host institute nominate more than one candidate?

Yes

Financial Support

  1. For non-recurring entities, upto to 10 lakhs will be provided for the capital equipments.


  2. As for recurring entities, there will be a fellowship support of 75,000/- per month, for a period of 3 years. The contingency will be 10 lakhs for the first year, and 20 lakhs for the subsequent years.

  3. MKB _ YRFP fellows can engage one JRF/SRF/project assistant.

  4. The travel expense is limited to 50,000/- per year.

How to Apply?

The application should be forwarded by the Mentor and the HoD host institute.

What are the necessary attachment?

  1. Proof of Date of Birth

  2. Proof of Master's degree and Ph.D certificte.

  3. One copy of each relevant publication.

  4. One copy of recognition/ award detail.

  5. Consent form from the mentor.
